A Dachshund Found in Australia After 529 Days on the Run
A dachshund named Valérie has been found safe and sound on Kangaroo Island, Australia, after being missing for 529 days. This fearless dog, often called a “sausage dog,” had slipped away from her owners, Georgia Gardner and Josh Fishlock, during a camping trip in November 2023.
A Relentless 1,000-Hour Search for this Adventurous Dachshund
Valérie evaded all capture attempts, leaving only fleeting appearances on surveillance cameras, easily recognizable by her pink collar.
After more than 1,000 hours of searching, 5,000 km traveled, and the use of traps and bait, the Kangala Wildlife Rescue organization finally succeeded in recovering the dog. “We are thrilled and relieved that Valérie is safe,” they shared on social media. 😊
The Courage of Dachshunds: A Unique Breed
Known for their bravery and tenacity, sausage dogs like Valérie are independent hunters despite their small stature.
This adventure highlights their bold spirit! Georgia, the owner, expressed her gratitude: “Never lose hope in finding your pet.“
